New Year, New Goals

Best laid plans and all that. In November, I injured/aggravated a foot quite severely. Because of my RA, I assume aggravated. Stepping hurt, running sprints up and down my house was out of the question. But walking slowly was still available. I switched to making my 4K steps a day inside my home – it’s cold out and I don’t dress for the outside unless I have to. This was still the same about of Time spent moving my body each day, just more carefully. And, because of my body, I was still getting over 30 zone minutes on occasion. The new year, I kept this up. I am still planning on my vacation and I cannot risk a foot injury/aggravation for the trip. I’ve added a bit of Pilates for some mobility here and there, as well. I want to get my body back into some semblance of kinky shape.

On that note, I know you’re not really here for my exercise journey.

He and I have continued our date nights as we are able. Rope and pain our mainstays. In December, we even went to a new Rope Group in town – The Rope Accord. It’s a “Queer and woman led rope bondage group.” They have done a lot of work to create a mission and procedures to make it a safe and welcoming space, Including requiring masks and COVID vaccinations. The class we attended was about connecting with rope. It is always a fun time to just play with rope and not focus on the minutia of a tie. Though that is quite enjoyable, too, and what we did for our date night time. We connected with friends and met some new people and had a good time. Life and things have kept us from going back so far, but maybe next month.

This month, I stretched a bit further out of my comfort zone. The folks who run Trauma were putting on a Mystic Market and wanted GP to join. He was all for getting our volunteers back out again, and reaching out to the community. He’s moving more towards mentoring new groups who want to do the work, but GP is a good set of volunteers who like to do outreach. I’m still not super keen on getting my face near non-masked faces for extended periods of time, but I need to get out more. So, I volunteered as a runner, to move between stations that would be, in this case, spread out through the entire venue, and make sure everyone had what they needed. It was not nearly as crowded an event as Trauma. So, masked, I was able to comfortably* move through the crowd and run up and down three flights of stairs for four hours, checking in on everyone. I didn’t take part in any of our stations, but it was really good to see everyone out and about again. (*My lungs, legs, and joints did not find this comfortable, but my brain was okay.) We’re looking forward to doing it again.

In other news, there’s a high point occasionally available again. Looking forward to flying once more.
