The second annual CURE has wrapped up. I have mostly recovered, so it is time to write about it. This time, I penned a scene post first, so I won’t get overwhelmed and forget like I did with KK last year.
I went into CURE on a low, having lost a parent quite suddenly, but not unexpectedly just the night before. I was not heading north to family, so I needed to be Doing Things. Enter the first night of my CURE – load in of gear to the hotel. I didn’t do much lifting, being often a load-master, I was set as an unload master, pointing people to where to put things down. It kept my brain engaged, and my body moving. With occasionally hugs or words of support.
Day two began early, with the set up of things. I shadowed Him for most of this. Helping with whatever He needed, but mostly audio, and gophering things back to storage. By noon, I was ready for my credential checking shift, quite happy to sit down for an hour in the hall between event space and hotel rooms. After which I returned to being His shadow for setup.
The group of us all had adjoining rooms, with our doors open between. Keycards were an issue, but at least one door could be open at any one time. So, we had access to everything. So much food between the rooms, and His was in the middle, the gathering place. To chat about outfits and plans and such.
SF kept me updated with plans. The group had responsibilities, but less than last year, though in some cases, only barely. Boundaries had been learned, if not strictly enforced. Volunteers are sometimes hard to come by. The evening went along. Scenes and play were had. As I waited for time with SF.
We got that time, to head back to my room. Close the adjoining door, and have a lovely drumming scene together, and then plenty of cuddles and chat. It was a lovely time, my back was very grateful. My heart needed to be wrapped up in him and held.
All-in-all, a good start to a con.
Day Three, Saturday. My day started with a suspension scene. Then I went to classes. A very fun Primal Play class with Lee Harrington. A Mind Fuck class by Duke of Pudding. And a Knife Play 101 class with Ms. J that I got to attend with SF beside me. I really enjoyed the classes this year, though the third was not really anything I had not seen in other similar classes. Listening to Lee Harrington talk about all the different things that could be considered as and in Primal play. Watching a masterful mindfuck by Duke, and learning some new ideas to spice things up. And seeing a very interesting presenting technique by Ms J with a webcam pointed at the demo bottom space so folks all through the class could see what she was doing.
I had a much quieter evening, with no scenes planned, and both my tops busy. I had a DM shift to start the night. Wandering through all the side play spaces. I did get to spend some time with SF as he blacked his shoes. And I did get to sit in a circle of friends to keep my mind occupied with their shenanigans. He did make me cry at 1am with the usually rude question for that time of night at the end of a con, but especially pointed this weekend. Asking me How are you doing? But He held my hand, and I got SF to stop over for a couple grounding headbutts. There are always a lot of feelings in the middle of the night as a kink con is ending, but it was even more that evening. I cried again a bit later, in a hug with two others of our group. Gotta feel my feelings, my therapist always says.
Day Four was load out. Up early to get my own things to the car. Then everything out to the trucks. I shadowed Him again. Doing the audio cables. Until a couple of us crashed and He sent us home to nap until it was all done. She really didn’t want to go, but relented eventually. The nap was much needed, and much longer than expected. But after, we all went out to Olive Garden for foods and decompress. Then home for even more napping.
A successful con. Full of fun, play, learning, emotions, love and support of my chosen family. They always have ups and downs, but I think I found more ups than downs this year. Ever looking forward to the next event.
