Halloween Ramblings

October 25th, 2014

Saturday afternoon. I’ve been up for a couple hours and should be eating lunch, or at least cooking something. Instead, I’ve done my usual run through the internet. Checked in on my Grad School groups, and now I’m rambling at an Office doc so that I have something to post for this week.

Next weekend is Trauma. Three nights of overly loud music, the stage show running hundreds of scenes, and performances that range from rope and hook suspensions to burlesque and body painting. It is one helluva Halloween celebration. And I can hardly wait until it is over. It will be fun to be there, but there is a lot of dread leading up to it, and a lot of exhaustion after. Not to mention I have a final group project due that weekend, too. Life would be so boring without all the insanity.

Going to a regular Halloween party tonight. Costuming is supposed to be Horror movie Villains and Victims. I really don’t do costuming… or horror movies. So the hostess will probably be annoyed at me, though only momentarily, as much drinking and dancing will also be occurring. (And I haven’t even begun to think about Trauma clothing!) Riding up with a friend, probably sleeping on the floor. It’s fun to pretend I’m not too old and broken for this. 😉

Been abusing my body this week, but not in the usual fun ways. More in the receiving manager gone for two days, so I had to receive over 450 boxes by myself, kind of way. I’m actually not doing nearly as bad today as I thought I would be. Lugging gear for the crew has kept me in minimally good shape after all.

Winter Wickedness tickets go on sale next weekend, too. Right in the middle of Trauma, as usual. I think he’ll probably do the same as previous years, so we can get our tickets as they go on sale and not have to stress about getting a room like we did with COPE. But we haven’t actually confirmed that plan, yet. Too much going on each week to really worry about February, yet. Though have some other exciting plans to sort out for late February, too, at some point.

One more week of two classes, and then a month of just one class. And then Winter Break! So looking forward to having a month off. Have to schedule spring classes Sunday night, to see when exactly I’ll be starting up again. I have plans of things to do and books to read. We’ll see how much of it actually gets done. Also, WoD comes out in November. I’m curious, but haven’t sorted out the finances of that, yet. Money sucks. Anyone need a kinky librarian who is halfway through her degree?

Happy Halloween! See you on the flip side.

Late Posting Pt. 1

October 20th, 2012

Sorry about the late post this week. Work is killing me with these full time hours, grateful, but so very tired. Friday night started the Halloween line up of kinky events. We had a belly dance class and our usual play party. He was feeling ill, but still managed to zap and dragon tail us quite thoroughly, as well as the other two scenes he planned on. We ended the event in a giant cuddle pile of awesome. I might have even fallen asleep on his chest a little bit. My new dress was all shiny and red, and sometime in the near future, the awesome seamstress lady will make me one that fits better. I handed out tons of Trauma fliers to everyone there. And he, the engineer and I had a good cuddle sleep together and a very nice morning.

Today there is a wedding and then two parties. Trauma is this coming week, two nights of insanity with the general public in outrageous costumes. There’s a Halloween party the next night, but I don’t think I’m going to make it. The following week we are back at the club again for a party on Halloween, and then another party that Saturday, too. My parents are visiting some time in November, I should really sort out when. I’m guessing Turkey Day weekend. Oh, and Modern Dungeon Quarterly’s fourth issue, featuring COPE and AIS Kink Labs, comes out November 1st. So, that’s my life right now, but what do I want to write about?

Have I mentioned how much I love Fearless Press? So many good articles on relationships, sex, kink and spirituality. You should totally go there and read through the current selection. I think my thoughtful post will be about labels and active D/s, but right now I have to get showered and dressed for the aforementioned wedding.

Wicked Fun and Tim Minchin

October 31st, 2010

A very busy week, and another missed deadline. I did not even touch a computer on Thursday. With Halloween comes a big goth and fetish party in town and the crowd there is far bigger than any we see all year at the club. Close to fifteen hundred people come crowding into a very big, very creative venue, and about a tenth of them sign up for our show. We had gear to reorganize, furniture to rebuild or build new, and twenty-five crew members to get to the same place at the same time. During the event, we had seven stations to keep running constantly and smoothly and some of the violet wands being over eighty years old, this was not always a simple task. We had a suspension beam, two corporal stations, three electric stations and a fire cupping station.  It was a wonderful and successful event where we performed nearly one hundred twenty individual scenes. Followed by two moderately busy nights at our usual club. The violet wands kept humming, and the floggers kept flowing and we kept moving. Sleep was in very sparse supply, but the energy was fantastic. The phrase, “no rest for the wicked,” comes to mind, but today, on Halloween, we are all taking our rest, to recover from a very epic week of wicked fun.

On that note, I want to do something a little different and a little odd today. Tim Minchin is an Australian comic whose comedy is mostly highly inappropriate (in polite circles) songs and beat poems. I want to share a few of them with you for sarcastic amusement and silliness.
