2017 Has Begun

January 31st, 2017

I haven’t posted this month. I have reasons(excuses), but really, I just haven’t had the energy. I’ve had lots of ideas flitting through my head: in one hear, bouncing around for a few moments, and then slipping right out again before I got pen to paper. I should write things down faster, I guess. 😉

Most of my energy this month has gone to interviews, my chosen family, and politics. My gods, the politics. I don’t even want to get into all of that insanity. Not right now. Not here. I just wanted to let my readers know that I’m still here, and I’m still going to be writing.

Winter Wickedness is this weekend, and it’s the least prepared for a big event I’ve ever been. Ah well, it’ll be a casual one, I guess. I am planning on having one new outfit, possibly for the pirate theme, more likely not. We shall see how shopping goes.

With any luck, I’ll have plenty of fodder for posts next week. 🙂

Quiet Holidays

December 15th, 2016

I posted a lot in November, and haven’t posted since. Sorry about that. I’ve been taking lots of Me Time. Playing video games, watching Netflix, relaxing, and even some cooking. Looking forward to some quiet holidays. I’ve got my usual short family visit at some point, puppy-sitting, and a small NYE gathering coming up. A nice quiet holiday season.

There was a nice class on tea/dinner service last night. My favorite part of the class was the discussion of Service as a cycle of energy exchange. The presenter discussed how the Recipient provides opportunities for the Server to provide service. The Server in turn, performs the actions. The recipient receives pleasure/comfort from the actions, and the server feels pleasure/comfort from performing the actions. There is also opportunity for gratitude, discussion, and compliments. Service is not one-sided. There have to be two engaged people, or you would have no one to serve.

Looking forward to the conventions coming up. DeCon and Winter Wickedness. I still have to get my tickets, but I should be good to go for both. I don’t have any particular plans, but to have a good time with friends and loved ones. I’m sure plans will get sorted out closer to. A bit distracted and thoughts scattered today. I’ll try and get back to posting substantial things again soon.

WW Pre-Post

February 4th, 2016

Con starts tomorrow afternoon. We’ve got one solid plan, our usual post-con plan. But nothing specific for the con itself. There seem to be a lot of good presenters and classes, haven’t tried to figure out which I want to attend. Going in to have a good time, and see what we can get into. I made one request, to beat out my stress. Lots of possibilities. 🙂

As usual, I’ll probably have a couple posts coming up after we’re all done. Enjoy your weekend readers, I know I will.

Is Vacation Over Yet?

January 14th, 2016

Not for me, I guess. I spent nearly a week with the new boy, because he ended up not having weekend plans. It was a very nice week of relaxing, exploring each other, talking about life and ourselves, and sharing favorite movies. This weekend I get to spend with him and the new boy, and a hundred or so of our friends, at an adult relaxicon. With panels ranging from Kink to Filk, from Indentured Servant Roleplay to Karoke. And with an open bar and awesome music to dance to. I look forward to this every year.

I’m also working on a small kinky lending library for my group. A past crew-member donated a bunch of books (too keep them out of sight of her young children), so I’ve been working on cataloging them and preparing lending policies. Not sure when we’re going to launch it, but we’ve already had one other donation, too. Anybody want to hire this kinky librarian? 😉

We’ve brought back our Wednesday night class and practice, starting this week, in the new Community Space. That’s very exciting. Starting off slowly, but I think we’ll build up steam again soon. Plenty of space to get our practice on, I think it’ll work out well once we get the list filling up again.

Winter Wickedness in just three weeks. I have no specific plans. I haven’t even had time to think about plans. Maybe after this weekend.

All the things! 🙂

All of the Things

January 23rd, 2015

Researched Topologist’s Chest Loading Takate Kote this week. Looks interesting. Rolled my eyes at detractors who like the view from their high horses just a little too much, but stayed out of the arguments myself. Tried out a new dynamic hip harness on Wednesday. It does not work well for my body, or my tastes, not sure if it is one or both. But I have the bruises and missing skin to prove it.  Heading to Snowbound this weekend, so… More Rope! But first we have the Burlesque show with crew tomorrow night. And soon, Winter Wickedness!

Beginning to formulate ideas for scenes and service. Feel like I should come up with more ideas on the latter, but really have only come up with boots, fetch, and sadistic assistant. I think I also volunteered to take notes in classes, but this might be part of the last. Did come up with some scene ideas today. They could be used this weekend or then, or whenever, but at least I got out of med-head long enough to toss some ideas out into the air. Really not interested in this cold lasting much longer, but I don’t think it’s going to give me any choice in the matter. Haven’t had con-crud in a while, guess it was my turn (though, from the sounds of it, it was everyone’s turn this week).

Okay, I really should sleep now, but I wanted to put something out here before the weekend.

Halloween Ramblings

October 25th, 2014

Saturday afternoon. I’ve been up for a couple hours and should be eating lunch, or at least cooking something. Instead, I’ve done my usual run through the internet. Checked in on my Grad School groups, and now I’m rambling at an Office doc so that I have something to post for this week.

Next weekend is Trauma. Three nights of overly loud music, the stage show running hundreds of scenes, and performances that range from rope and hook suspensions to burlesque and body painting. It is one helluva Halloween celebration. And I can hardly wait until it is over. It will be fun to be there, but there is a lot of dread leading up to it, and a lot of exhaustion after. Not to mention I have a final group project due that weekend, too. Life would be so boring without all the insanity.

Going to a regular Halloween party tonight. Costuming is supposed to be Horror movie Villains and Victims. I really don’t do costuming… or horror movies. So the hostess will probably be annoyed at me, though only momentarily, as much drinking and dancing will also be occurring. (And I haven’t even begun to think about Trauma clothing!) Riding up with a friend, probably sleeping on the floor. It’s fun to pretend I’m not too old and broken for this. 😉

Been abusing my body this week, but not in the usual fun ways. More in the receiving manager gone for two days, so I had to receive over 450 boxes by myself, kind of way. I’m actually not doing nearly as bad today as I thought I would be. Lugging gear for the crew has kept me in minimally good shape after all.

Winter Wickedness tickets go on sale next weekend, too. Right in the middle of Trauma, as usual. I think he’ll probably do the same as previous years, so we can get our tickets as they go on sale and not have to stress about getting a room like we did with COPE. But we haven’t actually confirmed that plan, yet. Too much going on each week to really worry about February, yet. Though have some other exciting plans to sort out for late February, too, at some point.

One more week of two classes, and then a month of just one class. And then Winter Break! So looking forward to having a month off. Have to schedule spring classes Sunday night, to see when exactly I’ll be starting up again. I have plans of things to do and books to read. We’ll see how much of it actually gets done. Also, WoD comes out in November. I’m curious, but haven’t sorted out the finances of that, yet. Money sucks. Anyone need a kinky librarian who is halfway through her degree?

Happy Halloween! See you on the flip side.

Lists, Clothes and Betterment

January 30th, 2014

Today when I logged in I had over 1600 comments in the spam folder. Wouldn’t it be nice if that many people had actually visited my blog in the past week? But no, I average around a 100 a week, 200 if I’ve been posted to e[lust] recently. Ah well, the spam machines are busy, and Akismet does its job.

So, in 2011, I did 30 Days of Kink in January. In 2012, I did 31 Days of Gratitude in January. Last year, I was just surviving. This year, I was slacking. 😉 So, I’m going to make up for it in February. I’m going to do 28 Days of Lists. I’ve only come up with 12 so far, so if you have ideas, drop me a note, a comment, a tweet, whatever. They tell me lists are a good form of blogging, so I hope you enjoy them.

Next weekend is Winter Wickedness. I am very excited. There are so many great presenters coming, and so many interesting classes available. Not to mention the parties and the fun. It’s going to be a great weekend. He actually made a clothing request this year – skater skirts. So we each got one and are creating an outfit around it. I’m not sure what I’m wearing the second night. More thrifting may be needed. I ordered a new dress off Amazon, but they say it won’t arrive til the end of February, so that’s not going to work. I’m sure I’ll come up with something fun and shiny.

Been reading Bootblacking 101 by Andrew McDiarmid. Finding I like his talking about the experience more than his initial instructions. It is old school leather, so very much the boy in the leather bar, but the mentality is still something I can relate to. “You are a Bootblack.”

I also decided to step out of my shell a bit and bought a ticket for a service intensive. Not that service is out of my shell, but going to a kink ‘event’ without a partner, and taking steps to spend a day with like-minded individuals bettering myself as a service submissive. I’ve never even gone to a submissive roundtable before. But I know I will be surrounded by friends from this community and friendly new people I have yet to meet. It isn’t until April, but I’m looking forward to it very much.

Speaking of bettering myself and lists, my best friend made a really good suggestion to me today, that she uses in her own life. When stressing out, write things down in a list. Things That are Stressing Me Out, for instance. Acknowledging things so they are less scary is what I use my journals for. Getting it out of my head so I can see it. But the next step she suggested is important, too: look at those things and see if you can do anything about any of them. Make the things you can do into a To Do list. Do those things, or if you are already doing those things, realize that you are doing all that you can (and stressing isn’t going to help). And if there are things that you can’t do anything about, stop fretting over them (again, stressing isn’t going to help). That’s the simplified version, but it is definitely something I need to do more often.

There was also an article about asking better questions which caught my eye this week. While I found some of her questions strange, the point of the article held true. “How was your day?” or “How are you?” rarely get informative answers. Asking more personal questions, that have direct relevance to their life, will facilitate better answers and more communication. Something to keep in mind as you go about your day.

Ill Ramblings

November 7th, 2013

I hate being ill. It has felt like someone trying to dig my throat out through my ears all week. Does not do well for the creativity centers when the rest of the body just wants to sleep til it’s over. I did have an odd vision of a vampire seduction gone terribly wrong as the woman tries to eat the vampire’s heart through his chest. I blame watching Alien last night for that, though.

Had a great time at Trauma, though I didn’t get many scenes, what with the running around keeping things moving. We had a great crew who worked the asses off to do almost 300 scenes in two nights. Not bad for about 20 folks. There was cupping and violet wands and drumming and flogging and suspension. Our resident electricity craftsman brought out a lot of new toys, too. Including his new stun baton, yes I ran the hell away from that thing. There was also the usual burlesque lady with her snakes. I ran away from her, too. But other than that and a few other hiccups, it went really well. The shows were mostly awesome, too. From high-flying suspension (JEALOUS), to arial work, to dancing, to flesh-hook suspensions (no, didn’t watch that either). A great time had by all.

He got new boots. They’re not lineman boots this time. They’re… like boot-shaped tennis shoes. The leather is soft and squishy. Not sure what, if anything, I can do with them. The instigator promises another bootblack meeting soon, so we’ll see what the others have to say. The steel-toes were just killing his feet.

Tickets have been purchased for Winter Wickedness. Very excited to go to that. Many good presenters will be there, and much fun will be had by all.
