Corsets

Cleaning Corsets

Because of metal stays, most should be dry cleaned.
Make sure the dry cleaner knows how to clean corsets, and they know there are metal stays.
Washing machine or dryers may irreperably harm the corset.
Hand washing may be possible for some fabrics with mild soap and very cold water.
A toothbrush can be used to scrub stains.
Blot dry with towel or hang over plastic hanger or chair to air dry.

Storing Corsets

Do not store wet.
Do not roll.
Fold along laces.
Slide a plastic hanger (metal will rust) through the middle of the laces.
Hang away from sunlight with other clothes.

Top Tips

Wear a thin shirt, tank top, or tube top underneath corset to protect it from body oils and sweat.
Lightly spray liner with Febreeze to remove mild odors.
